‘Gen V’ Season 2: Honoring Chance Perdomo, Project Odessa Details

The highly anticipated second season of ‘Gen V’ is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 17, 2025. This season promises a deeper dive into the psychological trauma experienced by the young supes, while also paying a heartfelt tribute to the late Chance Perdomo. Exclusive details reveal that ‘Project Odessa,’ a central mystery, will be a focal point, intertwining with the aftermath of ‘The Boys’ Season 4 events. Fans can expect complex character dynamics, political intrigue, and a poignant exploration of loss and remembrance.

This season picks up a year after the bloody events of Season 1, finding the gifted gang scattered and emotionally scarred. Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer, and Jordan Li return to Godolkin University, only to face a tense reunion with Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordon, now the Guardians of Godolkin. The shadow of Homelander’s influence looms large, and Annie/Starlight’s fugitive status adds another layer of complexity. The investigation into ‘Project Odessa’ promises to reveal the dark origins of Godolkin University and the true purpose behind its creation. Andre Anderson’s absence will be deeply felt, with the season dedicated to honoring his memory.

Season 2 begins with the young supes grappling with the emotional toll of the previous year’s events. Executive Producer confirms that ‘Everyone starts in a completely different place,’ hinting at the individual journeys each character will undertake. Kripke adds, ‘They’ve had a really rough year, and I think they’re dealing with a lot of trauma heading into this season.’ This sets the stage for a season marked by introspection and resilience as the characters navigate their changed circumstances and relationships.

Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer, and Jordan Li find themselves back at Godolkin University, a place now fraught with tension and uncertainty. Their former allies, Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordon, have experienced a vastly different reality, having lived luxuriously as the new Guardians of Godolkin. This divide creates a complex dynamic within the group, testing the bonds of friendship and loyalty in the face of differing ideologies and experiences. The tension is palpable, as Phillips teases, ‘it’s a little tense,’ underscoring the challenges the classmates will face as they attempt to reconcile their past alliances with their present realities.

Politics continue to be a major force both on and off-campus, with ‘Gen V’ directly addressing the repercussions of ‘The Boys’ Season 4. Kripke notes that this season offers audiences ‘the audience’s first glimpse for fans of what that new world looks like,’ following Homelander’s rise to power. The season will delve into the treatment of Starlighters and Annie/Starlight’s liberal movement, providing a stark portrayal of the political landscape under Homelander’s influence.

Annie’s fugitive status plays a crucial role in the unfolding narrative, as she seeks out Marie Moreau with a proposition to investigate and halt ‘Project Odessa.’ Marie’s skepticism is evident, as she questions Annie’s motives and trustworthiness. Sinclair explains, ‘Marie’s in a bad situation, and then Starlight shows up and offers her this mission with all these things she hasn’t heard about. So, I think there’s a healthy amount of excitement and flattery, but also skepticism, like, ‘Why should I trust you?’’ This sets the stage for a complex alliance built on necessity and uncertainty.

Godolkin University’s new Dean, Cipher, adds another layer of intrigue, pushing the students to their limits and embodying the values of ‘Homelander’s America.’ Linklater jokes that his name ‘should inspire a great deal of confidence in everyone,’ hinting at the character’s cryptic and potentially malevolent nature. Kripke praises Linklater’s performance, stating that ‘Every single line [Linklater delivers] is so funny, and weird, and unexpected. He keeps you on your heels every single second.’

‘Project Odessa,’ described by Kripke as ‘the original purpose of the school,’ becomes a central mystery that the heroes must unravel. The project, initiated by Thomas Godolkin himself, is explored through flashbacks in the opening scene, revealing the university’s true origins and the motivations behind its creation. Kripke teases, ‘As our heroes are getting to the bottom of this mystery, they’re also getting to the bottom of who Godolkin was, what was the point of the school in the first place, why was it created. You really get to the origin of everything.’

The season addresses the tragic loss of Andre Anderson, played by Chance Perdomo, who passed away in March 2024. The show dedicates the entire season to him, allowing the art to speak for itself. Kripke states, ‘We thought we should play the absence of him from everybody’s life and not shy away from the tragedy of it, and let our characters really be galvanized by his memory — frankly, much like the cast was galvanized by Chance’s memory. We thought the best we could do for Chance is just really present Andre as the hero that he was.’

Andre’s absence is deeply felt by his friends and peers, creating a void that the season does not attempt to fill but rather honors through remembrance and character development. His father, Polarity, even assists the students in unraveling the mysteries ahead, adding another layer of emotional depth to the narrative. The show’s commitment to honoring Perdomo’s memory is evident in its approach to Andre’s character and the impact his loss has on the remaining supes.
