The NHL playoffs are in full swing, and FYM News is here to keep you updated on all the latest news and roster changes. This update focuses on key players and their status as teams battle for the Stanley Cup. We’ll cover the Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, and New Jersey Devils, providing insights into injuries and potential returns that could impact their playoff runs.
The Dallas Stars have an important update regarding Jason Robertson, while the Vegas Golden Knights face a setback with Pavel Dorofeyev’s injury. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils deal with injuries to Johnathan Kovacevic and Brenden Dillon. These updates are crucial for fans and analysts alike as teams navigate the challenges of the postseason.
Dallas Stars Roster Update: Robertson’s Return Imminent
Good news for the Dallas Stars as Jason Robertson has been upgraded to day-to-day, according to coach Pete DeBoer. Robertson, who led the team with 35 goals during the regular season, has been sidelined with a lower-body injury sustained on April 16 against the Nashville Predators. His absence has been felt in the Western Conference First Round against the Colorado Avalanche.
“I would say he’s definitely not week to week,” DeBoer stated. “I would call him more day to day now. He’s starting to get into that area, so he’s still got some hurdles to go.” This suggests that Robertson is making significant progress and could potentially return to the lineup soon, providing a major boost to the Stars’ offensive capabilities.
In other Stars’ news, Miro Heiskanen, the team’s top defenseman, remains out with a lower-body injury. He has not played since January 28. Additionally, defenseman Nils Lundkvist is skating but is further from a return, having been out since January 21 due to shoulder surgery. DeBoer mentioned that Lundkvist’s return would only be considered if the Stars make a deep playoff run.
Vegas Golden Knights: Dorofeyev Out for Game 6
The Vegas Golden Knights will be without forward Pavel Dorofeyev for Game 6 of their Western Conference First Round series against the Minnesota Wild. Dorofeyev sustained an undisclosed injury during Game 5, where the Golden Knights secured a 3-2 overtime victory. He left the game at 15:56 of the third period and did not return.
Dorofeyev has been a key player for the Golden Knights, contributing one goal and one assist in the series. He also led the team in goals during the regular season with a career-high 35 goals and 52 points. His absence will undoubtedly be a significant loss for Vegas as they look to close out the series.
Victor Olofsson will replace Dorofeyev in the lineup. Olofsson played in the first three games of the series but has been a healthy scratch since. The Golden Knights currently lead the best-of-7 series 3-2.
New Jersey Devils Face Injury Setbacks
The New Jersey Devils are dealing with multiple injuries as they look ahead to the next season. Defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic will undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the start of training camp in September. Kovacevic was injured in the first period of Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes. “It was actually the first shift of the period when I went into a hit, and my knee felt a little bit funny, a little off,” Kovacevic said.
He added, “I played the rest of the period, but in the intermission, got it checked out and the doctor said I can’t go back out there. I’m still kind of sorting things out but it looks like I’m going to have to get surgery and I’ll be out for a decent amount of time. I don’t anticipate I’ll be ready for the start of next year.” Kovacevic signed a five-year, $20 million contract with the Devils on March 7.
In addition, defenseman Brenden Dillon revealed that he sustained a neck injury in the second period of Game 1 against the Hurricanes. Dillon was pushed awkwardly to the ice by Hurricanes forward William Carrier. Despite the injury, Dillon expects to have a normal summer of training and be ready for training camp.
The NHL playoffs are a grueling test of skill and endurance, and these roster updates highlight the challenges teams face as they battle for the Stanley Cup. The Dallas Stars are hopeful for Jason Robertson’s return, which would significantly boost their offensive capabilities. The Vegas Golden Knights will need to adjust their lineup with Dorofeyev out, while the New Jersey Devils face a longer road to recovery with injuries to key defensemen.
